India has a long history of making horror movies. From Ramsey brother’s creepy and erotic horror to RGV’s paranormal flicks. The last horror movie in Indian Cinema which I can remember as a true horror entertainer was Mahesh Bhatt’s Razz. (All other parts were just bullshit). Competing with these established produced works, this year witnessed a true gem of a movie named “TUMBAAD”. TUMBAAD based on an old folktale is a story about a father and son, their encounter with a demon and how it changed their life’s forever.

The movie is directed by debutant Rahi Anil Barve and co-directed by Adesh Prasad. Anand Gandhi was creative director, co-writer and executive producer. The film is produced Sohum Shah, Aanand L Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah under the banners of Colour Yellow Productions and Sohum Shah films LLP. Sohum Shah plays the lead in the film and the story goes from his childhood to his fatherhood. Tumbaad captures an old folktale of a demon called “HASTAR” who is believed to have immense and eternal Gold. Sohum Shah as Vinayak Rao is very genuine and convincing. Mohammad Samad as Pandurang, Vinayak's son has proved himself. The story of this Father-son duo and their encounter with this Demon will make emotionally connected to the plot. The movie is presented as if someone is reading a book. Each period of Vinayak’s is described as described as a CHAPTER in the movie. It has total Three (3) chapters each one is captivating and thrilling to get you glued to the screens.
